European Operations Manager / Center Director
As Director of the Rome Study Center, Erin is responsible for the overall management of the Study Center and Rome programs. Erin works with faculty and administrators to develop custom study programs that take full advantage of the learning opportunities offered by the city of Rome and its environs and increasingly, multi-country programs in collaboration with the other ACCENT Study Centers. Completing her undergraduate degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, Erin began her career in education serving as a Peace Corps Education volunteer in the Republic of Georgia. The experience led her to obtain a Masters degree in International Training and Education from American University in Washington, DC. Working with non-profits and Universities over the last seven years, Erin has developed international study programs in numerous academic areas which pair experiential learning with a multidisciplinary approach for diverse student groups.
Senior Programs Coordinator/Italian Language Instructor
Marco works both as a Senior Programs Coordinator and an Italian language instructor. He has a variety of different responsibilities and works with faculty to enhance the academic experience of students and ensure the smooth running of each program. Marco has a degree in Asian languages from La Sapienza University in Rome, speaks 5 languages and discovered his passion for study abroad when he studied in South Korea. He later committed himself to developing his career in International Education, holding both instructional and program coordination roles for different international organizations in both Europe (UK and Italy) and Asia (North and South Korea).
Programs Coordinator/Internship Liason (part-time)
Nicole Arriaga is a Programs Coordinator, specializing in housing. In this position Nicole helps students with all of their housing needs ranging from roommate placement to housing issues. For the UC Rome program Nicole also works closely with the Resident Advisor who lives with the students and organizes various social and cultural activities. As Programs Coordinator Nicole is involved with student needs in the front office and helps coordinate extra curricular activities with her colleagues as well. Nicole is currently completing her master’s degree in International Relations and Political Science at St. Johns University in Rome. Studying abroad in Rome has been such an amazing experience for Nicole and has allowed her to share some of her greatest moments, sights, and restaurants with our students.
Programs Coordinator/Housing Coordinator
Elisabetta Caponera, a native Italian, first worked with the ACCENT Rome Study Center as an intern through La Sapienza University and is now part of the staff. In 2009 she completed a Bachelor’s degree in languages and she is currently completing her specialization degree in artistic and literary translation. She works with student life and oversees student housing in the Residence Trastevere, as well as organizes various cultural exchange events with Italian and American university students. Elisabetta is glad to share her Italian culture with students and colleagues.
Programs Coordinator/Campus Outreach Liaison
As Programs Coordinator Francesco manages various academic programs ensuring that students have a well-rounded cultural experience. As Campus Outreach Liaison, Francesco collaborates with all ACCENT European Study Centers to develop innovative tools to assist University partners in reaching potential students. A native Italian, Francesco completed his bachelor degree in cultural and linguistic mediation at Sapienza University of Rome, through which he started collaborating with ACCENT as an intern and now is happy to be part of the team.
As a programs coordinator, Chiara deals with a wide range of responsibilities related to students’ well-being and program coordination. She advises students on all aspects of life in Rome and works alongside the faculty to create program itineraries and academic schedules. Chiara has a degree in Literary, Linguistic and Translation Studies related to modern languages with a special focus on Anglo-American culture and American Jewish literature. She spent eight months in London studying Translation at the University of Westminster and this study abroad experience sparked her passion for international education. Her goal is to be a mentor for American students in their own international endeavors, helping them in taking full advantage of all the Italian and Roman experience.
Alice, a native of Rome, graduated from La Sapienza Universiy and completed her education in Bath, UK, where she found she wanted to pursue a career in study abroad and share her experience with other students. She coordinates short term programs and is in charge of student activities, special events and manages the Rome Center’s social media outlets. In her spare time she enjoys discovering new hotspots and off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods and restaurants to try in Rome and is always more than happy to share her experiences with the students.
Academic Coordinator (part-time)
As Academic Coordinator at the Rome Study Center, Chiara is in charge of the academic aspects of the University of Southern California and University of Minnesota programs as well as other ACCENT Rome programs which require on-site Academic Coordination. Chiara’s position involves course and program planning, design and integration of cultural activities, faculty coordination, student academic advising and more. She also serves as liaison with the home institutions, providing support on course registration, grades, and academic requirements. Chiara has over a decade of experience teaching and designing US university programs in Rome including courses in Italian Cinema, Culture and Media as well as English and American Literature in addition to managing for-credit internship programs. Chiara completed her MA and PhD at University College Dublin in English and American literature. Here research and publications focus on English and Italian 20th Century Literature and cinema.
