Students on an ACCENT program in Paris may be placed in a student apartment, residence or in a Parisian home. Housing options vary by program.
Students stay with other ACCENT program participants in double and triple rooms in multiple-bedroom student apartments in and around the center of Paris. Rooms in student apartments are furnished with a bed, closet or armoire, an area for toiletries, bed linens and towels. Kitchen facilities include a small stove, refrigerator, dishes, a microwave or an oven and basic cooking utensils. Apartments are equipped with wireless internet, washing machines and drying racks.
During the summer months many ACCENT students live in residences (called maisons) at the Cité Universitaire, located in the 14th arrondissement in the southern part of Paris. There are two types of rooms; the confort room which can be single room or double room with its own bathroom, and the standard room which can also be single or double room and where shower facilities are shared by everyone on the floor. All rooms have beds, linens, closets, desks, and connection to the internet, and most of the double rooms have sinks. Participants living at the Cité Universitaire will need to bring their own towels. Student residences also include laundry facilities and either a cafeteria or shared kitchenette.
Homestays give students the opportunity to observe firsthand how the French live. Many homestay students feel the experience greatly improves their linguistic ability and increases their level of cultural understanding. Students considering homestays may find it helpful to have some previous knowledge of the French language. Students staying with families will have some meals provided and limited access to the kitchen. Homestays have varying commutes to classes of 15 to 55 minutes walking and by metro.
The Citadines Apart’hotels are air-conditioned, three-star accommodations for two to four people. Each apartment has a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette, and comes with linens, a TV, a telephone, and free Internet.
Local hotels may be appropriate housing for short-term or non-traditional programs. Hotels used by ACCENT are centrally-located, either in the Quartier Latin or near la Bastille, and rated two or three stars. For more information on the hotel specific to your program, please contact ACCENT.
