The people of Madrid\'s La Latina and Lavapies districts celebrate their patron saints, San Cayetano and San Lorenzo, by dressing up in 19th-century costumes and hitting the streets. Religious processions take place in the evening.
Neighbouring squares are adorned with colourful decorations and play host to numerous street parties with live music and dancing, where everyone drinks lemonade and eats aubergine fritters.
Celebrations take place from the first weekend in August, with San Cayetano\'s feast day falling on 7 August around Plaza de Cascorro, followed by San Lorenzo on the 10 August near Plaza de Lavapi. |
