Why Choose London? |
| London is the hub of the British Empire. Of course, it's not really an "empire" any more, but England's capital is still one of the most influential cities in the world. A power player in world and European affairs, home to the British Parliament and a high profile royalty, it is also known for its lively social scenes, cutting edge art and design, as well as its very long national history. Naturally, London's energy is abounding, sit in for a session of Parliament (it's free), catch a show at the Globe Theatre, go to the pubs to watch football (soccer), check out the Tate Gallery of Modern Art, get lost in the Underground (subway, that is), keep your wits about you and take it all in. The more you learn about London's history and current affairs, the easier it will be to immerse yourself into its culture and sub-cultures. Studying in London will enrich any curriculum and open many career doors after graduation. While the experience of having lived in London might spark up quite a few conversations in your future, if you work hard while you're there, you will have much more to show for your time and experience beyond pub tales. |
| London is the largest city in Europe with a population of about eight million. It is very dynamic and a focal point of world culture. It is the absolute center of travel within England and also offers access to the world. You can take the Chunnel (the Channel Tunnel) to mainland Europe in just over two hours. There are also a few inter-European airlines that offer low rates and thus offering a veritable feast for the travel bug. But it's London! So why would you leave? There are always tons of "goings-on" to fill your datebook. There is a myriad of publications that tell you what activities and events are going on as well as a vast array of news sources that will keep you and millions around the world informed about international happenings though one must be wary of the exorbitant amount of tabloids. |
| An international student - who is also a student of Life - will find that living and learning in London is a remarkable opportunity. Huge cities need lots of resources and London is no exception. The city houses numerous galleries, libraries and historical art and architecture for on-site exploration. London has been the home and inspiration to many famous authors, artists, musicians, philosophers and politicos. It is modern and progressive but loaded with history. London Bridge is not falling down, ravens still inhabit the Tower of London, Big Ben still tolls upon the hour, and you can see it all from the mesmerizing heights of the London Eye that spins above the Thames. |
