| The ACCENT London Center is first and foremost an information and resource center where students and faculty can stop in to ask questions, talk about problems they might have, discuss classes and schedules, collect their mail, or just chat with someone about their experiences. |
CLASSROOMS ACCENT students attend classes at the London Study Center, in the same building as the ACCENT London Center, or are directly enrolled at a university or college in London. |
BULLETIN BOARDS In the ACCENT London Center, bulletin boards provide information about various happenings around London: art exhibits, concerts, U.K.-U.S. activities, sports activities, as well as special events taking place throughout London and Great Britain. |
TRAVEL INFORMATION The ACCENT London Center can provide students with information on travel outside of London, including the location of student travel agencies, train and bus schedules, special student travel fares and railpass information. |
24 HOUR STUDY ROOM & STUDENT LOUNGE (ACCENT London Center-based programs) The Study Center offers a study room which can be accessed 24 hours a day. It has study spaces as well as internet connections for those using laptop computers. There is also a student lounge in the Study Center where students can relax and chat as well as have access to a television and VCR. |
LIBRARIES Students whose courses are based in the Study Center have access to a library within the same building as the ACCENT London Center. This library has a collection of books covering many general humanities topics (Art history, History, Theatre, Literature, etc.). The library also subscribes to a number of daily newspapers and weekly news periodicals such as The Economist and Time Out. In addition to the main library ACCENT maintains its own smaller lending library with reference books and numerous travel guides (Let's Go, Lonely Planet, Berkeley, Michelin, etc.). Students who have additional library needs may consult the ACCENT London staff for information about using London's public libraries. |
COMPUTER CENTER Students on an ACCENT London Center-based program have access to a computer lab with internet and email as well as wireless connectivity, located in the same building as the ACCENT London Center. Direct-enroll students will have access to email facilities at their London college or university. |
UNIVERSITY OF LONDON STUDENT UNION For a fee ACCENT students can become members of ULU (The University of London Student Union), which is a 5-minute walk from the ACCENT London Center. The ULU facility provides access to a number of student services, including student restaurants, a travel agency, shops, a gym, and a swimming pool.
