STUDENT APARTMENTS
Students may choose to stay in double or single rooms in apartments that are located throughout Florence. Apartments have a combination of single and double bedrooms (4-7 people on average). Each bedroom is furnished with beds, a closet or armoire, sheets, pillows and blankets. Kitchen facilities include a stove, refrigerator, cooking utensils and dishes. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are shared by everyone in the apartment. All of the student apartments are located in and around the center of Florence, within a 20 to 40 minute walk or bus ride from the ACCENT Florence Center.
HOMESTAYS
Living in an Italian family can be an excellent way of absorbing Italian language and culture and is an opportunity designed to enrich the student’s stay.
Through teaching activities and books, students learn the pillars of Italian History, Italian Language etc. The homestay experience allows students direct contact with all of the aspects of Italian society, which is the ACCENT mission.
Florentine hosts are carefully screened by ACCENT and they represent all walks of life. Students are placed in double or single rooms in homes within the Florence city limits, with varying commutes to classes of approximately 15 to 40 minutes by foot or public transportation and receive half board.
STUDENT RESIDENCE
Palazzo Virginio is a residence complex in the Santa Croce neighborhood of central Florence. It is a charming and elegant building with a large courtyard and has been completely renovated in a Tuscan style. It is composed of 18 apartments, which extend over two floors and range from two-person studios to four-room apartments. Apartment sizes vary, but the average apartment size is 50 square meters (538 square feet). Each apartment layout is unique, but all provide similar amenities: central heat, air-conditioning, satellite TV, furnished kitchen, and Internet. Some of them have a private terrace, while others have a terrace in common. Laundry facilities are also provided in the building.
The neighborhood surrounding the residence offers a wide array of commercial services: Laundromats, restaurants, supermarkets, newsstands, public transportation by bus and a daily open-air market. The ACCENT Center is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk from the residence.
