| ACCENT's first and foremost concern is the safety of our students. When they arrive overseas, students are given a 24/7 emergency contact number for ACCENT staff, as well as cell phone numbers of any visiting faculty members from their home institution. A contingency plan is in place in each ACCENT Center, and students are given a card with important phone numbers to carry in their wallet describing what should be done in the case of an emergency. |
| ACCENT is constantly monitoring the international situation, and each of our Center Directors is a warden of the local U.S. Embassy in their city. All students are given information on how to register with the local U.S. Embassy at their overseas orientation. Any State Department alerts and/or warnings are shared with our Center Directors via email as part of the official information cascade, and regular meetings are held at which safety concerns can be addressed. Although students are welcome to travel during their free time, those students leaving the city are asked to sign in and out and to describe their travel plans. |
